SGC said collections have been disrupted due to crews learning new routes, staff sickness, and the impact of the recent heatwave, and the recycling is not being thrown away.
It adds that this has caused a backlog.
A spokesperson for South Gloucestershire Council said: “We are sorry there has been disruption to recycling collections.
“This was due to crews learning new routes, staff sickness and the impact of the recent heatwave.

“This has caused a backlog which we are working on clearing.
“To catch up, some recycling is being collected using a different type of vehicle that looks like a black bin lorry.
“It isn’t being thrown away – recycling collected this way will still be sorted and recycled.
“This is temporary and we will return to the normal recycling vehicles once the backlog is cleared.
“Most collections are still running as normal.”
