Jake Shutler is the new chair and Luke Jones is the new vice-chair. The pair take over from Pete Webber and Graham Smith, who confirmed they would be stepping down from their roles at the AGM at the start of June.
“Me and Luke are delighted to be offered this opportunity,” said Shutler. “We wouldn’t be in a position to take on these roles if it wasn’t for the support and guidance of Pete and Graham over the last few years.
“The hours and commitment these gentleman have shown the club is something that money can’t buy.
“The club is in the best place it can possibly be, with the new clubhouse being built and three adult teams successfully competing at their respective levels. We look forward to building on their success and hope we can build on their legacy.
“To Pete and Graham and numerous others that have helped along the way, a thank you will never be enough. They have all done the hard work getting various things in place to really push the club forward.
“Now, me and Luke are looking to build on these foundations and make Thornbury Town an attractive, reliable and established Step 5 club, as a minimum. Plans are already in place to make the Mundys a suitable hub for football for the Town.”
Shutler and Jones will stay on in their roles as managers for the Reserve team and A team respectively. They are keen to build a strong pathway between the youth set-up and the first-team.
“We’ve set a goal of bringing the club together, creating a clear pathway from youth football through to the adult section, with the aim that the signs of success will be evident by the end of the season,” Shutler added.
“I’m looking forward to the years ahead and the challenges that will undoubtedly come with it. The pair of us have been involved with the club from playing with the youth teams and understand the importance of football in Thornbury.”
